Subject: Re: [ausev] newbie questions

It should be a car that's physically in decent shape, with a nice
interior
too ... a car you will enjoy driving. Don't buy a beat up old junker --
this is a car you're going to be turning into a daily driver and you
want
to be happy in it.

For a modest conversion, expect the cost in parts and materials to start
at around $8k. You might come in under that, but it's also possible it
may cost more. Depends a lot on what kind of performance and range
you're
looking for.

Finally, you'll probably want to start with a car that has a manual
transmission. It can be (and has been) done with an automatic, but there
are far fewer examples of people having done this, and the result will
be
a little less efficient.
