I would recommend you ask questions about hardware and such to the EVDL. 
http://www.evdl.org/  The EVDL is a national collection of EV 
enthusists.  The far larger number of people there will give you better 
answers than this list can.

Generally direct drive is difficult to do well and requires a much 
higher powered system to give decent performance. The EVDL can tell you 
more.
