--- All Chapters Meeting ---
Mark Farver, Christopher Robison and I attended the all chapters meeting in
May. Mark gave a quick rundown of what went on there. We have sent emails
about it in the past so I won't pull that info in here.
Two things to note -- 1) These events are open to all EAA chapter members 2)
If you want to attend the next one it will be next Spring (announcement
coming soon) and it will most likely be scheduled in Florida around their
NEDRA drag race
--- Who Killed the Electric Car ---
The Austin opening for this film is July 28. Mark Farver is working to see
if he can secure tickets for club members as well as trying organize some
sort of EV display opening night. If you are able to bring your vehicle or
are interested in manning a table in the theater lobby, please let Mark or
me know.
--- Renewable Energy Roundup ---
The Renewable Energy Roundup is September 22-24 this year.
We need to make sure they want us to display again this year.
If they do, we would like to get things organized in advance this year, so
if you are able to bring your car or have transport options, please let us
know. Some of the members who were at the meeting had some leads as to auto
transport options so we may have less car hauling issues this year. In any
case, we can always use people to help talk about cars. Let us know if you
will be there and we will get a schedule worked out.
--- org issues ---
Up until now, we have been operating under the auspices of the National EAA
501c3 status. They have asked that we no longer do that. We need to get
our local charter and such hammered out so that we can file. There are
several people who offered to help with that effort and draft bylaws are in
the works.
--- Austin NOW screening ---
We watched the Austin NOW feature that included discussion of what we do as
an organization
--- general discussion ---
I couldn't hear everything, but here are a couple of things that I picked
up:
Mark Kapner would like to start an EV buyers club. He thinks that if he can
get 100 people to commit to buying an electric car that he can convince a
production company to build the cars. If you are interested in helping out,
please contact him.
We all got a chance to look at a Ford Escape hybrid owned by Dan Vogler.
We all got to take a look at Mark Witt's new electric mountain bike.
