Dan, hang in there please. We really need your depth of knowledge. Bear with
us, lots to learn, and lots to learn we don't know about it yet.

Dan and all,

As a relative newcomer here I can't speak for everyone, but I do see
EVs as a hobby. To me, that only means that I'm not getting paid for
it.

As I see it hobbies can have serious results, like HAM radio for
instance. The good majority of the time spent on HAM radio is
tinkering with electronics and antennas, but there have been several
emergencies where they have been the only communication available. HAM
radio operators also are very vocal advocates for the greater public
on the balance between public vs corporate vs government control of
the frequency spectrum.

This is the parallel that I see to our group. People come to it with
many different motivations, some for the tinkering, some to sell
services, some to advance the cause and some for the environment. What
is common between us is that we all think electric vehicles are a very
real answer to some very serious questions.

Dan your safety questions are important and always welcome. As I'm
working on my car I spend a lot of time thinking about safety,
especially that of everyone else on the road. It is important to
account for the fault conditions, weather, as well as what will be
your normal operating condition. In my mind, there isn't a bad
question about safety. EVs already have an uphill battle for
acceptance, safety concerns need to be designed out as far as
possible.

Dan, I do hope you stick around. I'd like to see your three wheeler on the
road.

Erik
