Jack,
I never understood what might be dangerous and what is probably not.
I'm not too concerned, but I've always been curious and never found much
solid data (facts) on this.
Could you elaborate on the first paragraph as far as quantifying. Also,
do you have any references for the research (and who conducted it) in
the second paragraph? Have you done any calculations to compare the
magnitude of the fields of transmission lines to EV's (I'm guessing this
is not apples to apples)?
Thanks,
gary
.
Within the envelope, the general conditions surrounding a typical EV
drivetrain are not severe. Yes, the controller is switching several
hundered amps of current. It is doing so at audible frequency (although
the concern is more the rise time on the motor pulse that may
approximate a signal on the order of several hundred kilohertz). The
motor itself generates a magnetic field although the majority of the
field is contained within the windings (anything else is wasteful).

All the existing research indicates no long term adverse affects from
electric fields (cancer rates along high voltage transmission line
routes remain within statistical norm for the overall location, meaning
the elevated incidence in areas like Colorado are statistically within
the range normally associated with increased cosmic radiation at high
altitudes).
