[ausev] New ZAP Electric Car in Austin

I know my little S-15 ain't fast by any margin and doesn't have much range but when NEVs first came out and now this Xebra "The only electric car available" keeps pushing me to get that much more power and range in my next EV even if I don't need it.
I keep turning to the power hungry dark side. Now I'm thinking that GM couldn't have created that much bad press for EVs if they meant to and here people are volunteering to prove EVs won't work by creating onroad hazards out of EVs.
This of course is my personal currupted by the dark side opinion. In an ideal utopian world I think it is great that some people _IF_ it works for them and doesn't affect others it is great they have a vehicle that works for them and isn't total overkill.

The "only electric car available in the USA right now" ?? That's not an
exaggerated claim or marketing puffery ... that's actually an untrue
statement.
I'm certainly no huge fan of the Sparrow/NmG, but at least it can drive on
the freeway at 70 mph and has the more stable single-wheel-aft
configuration for a trike. And regardless of its future as a product, it
is indeed available now, in Austin. I'd sooner have one of those than the
Xebra, which seems to do little beyond promoting exactly the sort of
stigma that we as an organization are trying to address with the public.
The NmG may [arguably] look a little weirder than the definitely
weird-looking Xebra, but at least it's practical for driving in this
country.
Of course, while I'm being critical I must assert that these are my
personal opinions, and do not necessarily represent those of AustinEV or
EAA.
