I like the idea of having an 'calculator' of sorts that can give a rough
estimate of EV performance based upon the design. If people are willing,
maybe we could find an 'ideal track' of sorts and start gathering data
on everyone's EVs and their designs to back up the models. This track
could just be road somewhere in Austin, or something with
defined/controlled starts and stops along with continuous driving, etc.
My interests kind of lie in modeling of dynamic systems in general, and
modeling the cars and confirming the performance with respect to
batteries, voltage, weight, different motors, and such would be a good
idea.
Maybe we put a log of information on actual car performance stats on the
Austin EV site.
FYI I've been trying to recontact the potential source for donated cars
for EV conversions from the car donation program, and he sounds
interested but claims to be too busy to think about it much. I'll keep
politely nagging him.
