Hey Chris,
What about this: Instead of waiting for a donor or wrecked motorcycle
with which to start my project,
how about if I ask all the motorcycle dealerships about the cost of a new
motocycle, then, ask how they do in races (if thier engines hold up), then,
see what their/my new motorcycle IC engine, etc, would sell for to offset
the cost of the new frame, front tire, instrumentation, etc.
I could look at all the makes and see which would be the best for a
conversion and offset the purchase price. Used motorcycles would certainly
also be in the review mix.
Are there any out there which might work?
While being a little concerned about going into each dealer and ask these
questions if they might become somewhat unsettled or upset that their
product is going to another design, but, you never know unless you ask.
Since I am going with a three wheeled design, I'm confident that I can
proportion the weight exactly as needed at and forward of the rear axle,
thereby more easily addressing the sprung and unsprung weight in the back
with air shocks. (Even making them auto-adjustable if there is a second
rider or heavy cargo, and, even to the extent as the outside air temperature
causes springs to become stiffer in colder/warmer weather.)
