[ausev] Fredericksburg and JeepEV update

Hi all,

I just wanted to let everyone know that my JeepEV and I won't be able to
attend the Fredericksburg Renewable Energy roundup this year. Thanks to
those who offered to help have it towed up there.

The Jeep's batteries are suffering pretty badly, the Trojan T-875s are
miserable for this application. The Jeep's been out of commission for
about a month because I removed two of the batteries to perform in-depth
electrical testing and teardown analysis on them at my work to try to
figure out in what ways they are or have failed.

In the mean time, my mom is in Waco picking up several new T-875s we
found on Ebay, as none of the traditional battery distributors would
sell us 8-Volt batteries unless we bought like 20 or more (and I keep
hearing that Trojan is trying to phase out their 8-Volt battery line).

So hopefully the Jeep will be back on the road in a few days, but its
range will still be severely limited (like 10 miles) by the dying pack.
I've got my heart set on switching to AGMs like the Hawker Odysseys as
soon as I can come up with the funds to do so. However the unfortunate
reality is that my battery boxes won't fit AGMs well in their current
configuration, and I'll probably have to upgrade my Zilla to a higher
voltage model or put up with parallel battery strings, which I'd like to
avoid.

Good Luck at Fredericksburg,
