So the Wrightspeed X1 prototype is the rich mans equivielent of what I
was thinking of building. Its an Arial Atom (google it if you want to
learn about an insain low priced super car :-P).. Below are the X1's
specs.. Maybe its the newbe in me but I found them intresting.
• 3-phase AC induction motor, 236hp at the motor shaft
• 182 ft lbs torque at the motor shaft, from 0 rpm to 6,000 rpm
• 13,300 rpm rev limit
• weight 1,536 lbs
• Energy consumption 200 WHr/mile in urban use, equivalent to 170 mpg
(33,705 WHr/gallon)
• 25 kWhr Lithium Ion battery pack <--- I wonder if that is based on
traditional Amp hours or the .57 "1 hour" draw?
Of note, I found it intresting that they choose a fixie (fixed gear).
That meshs up with other online comments about locking the
transmission in a single gear... Its also intresting to see what they
have done with mostly off the shelf parts (the Arial Atom chassie is
off the shelf, I am sure the motor and batteries are as well (although
it may be a very hard shelf to "be allowed" to buy from :-P).. Also
intresting to see a consumption calculation on something that is in
the same spirit as my project :-)....
