Here's a fellow, Lanny, in Eugene, Oregon who has converted several 
no-longer-running 1998 Ford Ranger EVs from using their original 39 
now-obsolete delphi 8-volt batteries, which are no longeer available 
anywhere, to use 26 Trojan 12-volt batteries, which are readily 
available, by fooling the original Ford controller with a resistor 
tree cooked up by Jeff Thomas (http://EVBones.com) in Mesa, AZ.
