Chris,

You're exactly right: my title was not clear enough I'm hoping that I 
can trim down the plate to the bell (1/4" tolerance) at home with the 
tools that I've got.  I just need someone with metal working tools as a 
backup.

I've got a rip saw with a metal cutting blade and diamond 
cutter/grinder at home.

EV America is also supplying the machined coupling (should arrive this 
weekend).

My plan is to cut it this weekend and then do the precise drilling & 
assemble it next Sunday (tentative open garage)
