YES - YES, well said, OFF-Peak Charging is part of the EV pitch,.....
Because The Texas ERCOT grid has an amazing ~11,000 seperate generation
sources;...
from many things like,...wind, coal, gas, solar, nuke, biomass, etc,......
and I can see a day when we have a retail per charge spot-market for the
purchase of off-peak ( or even on-peak ) electricity that is measured only for
the sake of the vehicle, ( not the rest of the house or building ) , and we buy
each "fueling" of the EV at the best market rate at that instant. It would be
very much like making a long-distance call, many carrier choices and methods,
all over one phone network, or in this case the common electric grid bringing
an open spot market to those 5 KWH to 20KWH per charge ups and spot purchases
from dozens if not thousands of electric suppliers that could provide these
short spurts competitively moving excess and often unused electricity that
occurs during off-peak periods. ~ $0.65 / per gallon equivalent, NO more like
$0.25 per gallon equivalent is possible, if the public could buy per EV fuel
charge ups on the open electric grid wholesale market that exist today for big
utilities. Comments ??
