3.5' should be enough.  I need an 2' section between my boxes and 6" + 12" to connect batteries in the box.  I could make it work with as little as 2.5' if needed.

I've got a >2' section right now if length is a problem.  I need several short runs for the control board.

Do you know pretty close to how much you need? I have some old cables
that might work.
