Heidi and I will be going in the Fiero.
My favorite route does not include Dallas. I prefer to go up West I-35
through Fort Worth to I-30. Go east on I-30 to 12. Go north on 12 which merges
with I-35 East. This bypasses the central Dallas congestion and is a much lower
blood pressure route. Just slightly further, but, usually faster during rush
hour.
If we leave closer to 2:00 we can have more look around leisure time before
the event.
Any thoughts?
We also live in north Austin, near I-35 just off Yager Lane. Can you give us
directions to your house? Heidi's cell number is 577-1260.
We also have a couple of FSR walkie-talkies that are very handy when
caravanning.

Sounds good to me. Cara and I will plan to be there with our car. I was
thinking 2:30 - 3:00 departure would be best as well. I am not a fan of the trip
to Dallas in general and reaching Dallas during rush hour ... errr not fun.
Oh well.

Does everyone want to meet a some specified location and leave as a
group for Dallas on Thursday? This will give us the chance to do any
last minute car pooling arrangements and what not. My house in North
Austin is available, there is plenty of parking and it is close to IH35.

The computer is estimating 3 hours 15 minutes travel time and normal
freeway speeds and traffic. (Two conditions that never appear on Texas
roads) The event starts at 6pm and it will pretty much require a trip
thru downtown Dallas in rush hour. I'd guess a 2:30 departure would be
wise, but I welcome input from anyone with more knowledge of the area.
