[ausev] Ethanol Trend may lead to EV Funding

Sorry,.. I didn't make my point in the first post.
I'm with you, as I am opposed to this BIG ethanol & bio-fuels trend as
still having worse emmisions. Solar & Wind fueling pure EVs is the only
way to have a Zero Emmision grid to Automobile model. I am just
awe-struck at all the money the DOE is pumping into ethanol, while EVs and
V2G ( vehicle to grid ) are still not here in any numbers.

I call this the attempt of big oil to hang on to the "Fill It Up" fueling
system versus the
"Plug It In" EV Fueling model, which will give you over half a million
places (115VAC plugs) to fill (charge) up in Austin alone, and 11, 000
generation sources to buy from on a competitive spot market per charge-up
off the Texas ERCOT grid.

But there is hope - The operative sentence in the article was :
" That's why the House Democrats are pushing legislation to NOT just
encourage ethanol production but to also motivate the development of the
infrastructure to support that growth. It would reimburse companies to
equip their filling stations to pump gasoline blended with 85 percent
ethanol. Beyond that, those members would fund research meant to double
automobile fuel efficiency as well as expedite fuel cells and plug-in
hybrids. "

PHEV's overcome any shortcoming of a pure ( non-gasoline) EV. Write your
senator and congressmen, both state and federal and PUSH PHEV's as the best
way to have local daily commutes on pure electricity using NO gas at all
and longer travels with the ICE switched on. PHEV is really the best of
both worlds that can be delivered today.
