I have painted a couple of cars in the wayback years and have learned a
couple of things. If you want it to look good, take it somewhere.
Lacquer looks great but the VOC's have just about removed it from the
market, and most of the new urethane paints are way too toxic to use at
home. Most of the cost of a paintjob is from the prep work, which you can
do at home, so find a painter who will shoot over your prepwork. I have
actually seen some very nice jobs come out of maaco (a $50 bill will
normally get the painters attention focused), so that is somethign to look
at.
