[ausev] Ford/Siemens/Bollard AC motor - NYET! Regeneration in DC - HOW?

Boy, am I glad I asked THAT question! Thanks for the advice fellows.
Maybe what I need to do is rethink my assumptions.

My goal is to buy/build an affordable EV, based on either a light
body-on-frame pickup, or unibody Subaru Baja or PT Cruiser. This is
for local errands & light hauling, not daily commute. NEV is too
limiting. Due to my range goals and local hilly topography, It seems
COMPELLING for me it to include regenerative braking. Victor appears
to have things down pat, but my budget does not permit that "high end"
approach.

So help me challenge a key assumption: Victor's site implies that
regeneration is only available in AC systems. Has anyone seen a
practical, robust, affordable way to get regeneration in a DC system?

Thx again!
- Marty

I agree with Ian. Stay away from these motors. If you want to use a
Siemens AC motor like these, buy one from Victor at metricmind.com.
They're nearly identical, but come with a controller and a shaft that's
easier to integrate into your conversion.
