Subject: [ausev] Regen for brushless DC

We just had a discussion about why regen isn't used in spiral wound DC motors but I was wondering how the regen in brushless DC differs from the regen in the AC motors.

The Vectrix scooter (www.vectrix.com <http://www.vectrix.com> ) for example has regen with a brushless DC motor. Is that a risky endeavor such as with other DC's? Is the regen built in like in an AC motor or does it require a special controller such as the Zapi? Most importantly is it practical?

 Thanx,

 Donovan
