Well if you like that article, take a look at this.  The White Zombie (EV
with about 350 HP) did a quarter mile in 11:09 at 109.75 miles per hour and
beat a BMW M3.  See the videos in the link below.  The White Zombie is
street legal.  The owner drove it to the race with his wife and kids, and
you can hear them cheering him on in the bleachers while they are filming.
My boyfriend is a motorhead and looks up racing stuff all the time.  Since I
purchased my EV's, he now looks up records on EV racing.  I never realized
how much the racers develop new technology that can be used in regular
street cars.

Lots of news about hybrids and a Plug In  from Volvo. 
 
My what a difference a few months make in actual action by automakers. And
of course, they all say they had been working on changes for years. Go
figure.
