You can either wind and build your own ( 
http://www.otherpower.com/otherpower_wind.html has some good examples) or 
look at using a 24 volt high output Delco truck alternator.  These are 
intended for long service life in a hot truck engine bay and are available 
as rebuilts at a lot of auto supply shops for not much over $100.  Many 
are rated up to 70 amps 
of 24v, so that is a fair amount of power.  48v would be even better 
(lower cabling costs mostly), but there is a lot of 24vdc to 120ac 
conversion equipment available like the Xantrex Trace units.  One 
complication that this system will add is that you will have to do a 
pulley stepup to get the alternator rpm's into a useful range, but modern 
poly V belts are extremely efficient and will make shielding the 
alternator from the elements easier.
