I had a great exchange of emails with CPS about that.
Every time I read it I do a "Louis Black" comment.

Windtricity is a premium renewable energy service offered by CPS Energy. It allows customers to support the growth of renewable energy programs at CPS Energy. It helps secure more wind-generated electricity into our total generation mix available to all our customers.

Customers who subscribe to Windtricity do so because of their commitment to the environment and to their desire to be an active participant in changing the world, or at least a small part of it. They realize that the cost is slightly higher and feel that the extra expense is personally worthwhile. the energy produced by the wind turbines cannot be designated exclusively for subscribers. However, Renewable Energy Credits for the amounts purchased are retired, effectively passing "ownership" of that renewable energy to the purchaser.

CPS Energy remains committed to expanding our portfolio of renewable energy and increasing its share in our power generation mix. We urge you to keep reading the Energy Connections inserts included with your monthly statement and to regularly check our website, www.cpsenergy.com for updates and for more information on Windtricity.

Please contact us again if you have more questions or need more information.

I would prefer that they call it a rate lock. I still think it is misleading to say you are buying wind power, if they don't separate it. But we'll get busted for not saying something about EVs.

John

<<<<< often wonder why we don't have them lined up along the I-10 corridor.>>>>>

They are along I-10 around El Paso. I must see flat beds with windmill parts going in that direction every day. CPS Energy is building quite the wind farm out there and we can pay extra to have that windtricity go to your home or office.
