If your Dodge truck only gets 8 mpg, I would guess that it can handle a
significantly larger payload than a VW Beatle flatbead.
Compared to your old Dodge truck, you will have hugh savings no doubt.  But
what would your ROI be compared to a gas powered
VW Beatle flatbead? I think that would be the question I would ask myself.

My doge truck gets 8 mpg which runs 40 cents per mile just for gas. I am
spending 200 per month on gas,
I can pay for the truck in 3 years at roughly 150/month plus a 36 dollars
for operational costs.
After that it will seem almost free.   ROI seems obvious.
