It's novel, but you have to have DEEP pockets (like Shai and his circle of
friends) to finance the up front cost of producing all of that hardware,
with a promise of profits from monthly payments and yearly contracts. Then
it's a numbers game based on subscriptions.

I saw a good Wired article about a company bringing EVs to the masses - all
using current technology.
Instead of making drivers put tens of thousands of dollars upfront for an
EV, they're following more of a cell phone model of business - where you pay
for the electricity at various charging stations.

The man behind the project, Shai Agassi, Is currently testing the business
model in Israel. What do y'all think? Would it work US?
