Have you tried asking the local GEM dealer?   Even if he doesn't have
good battery prices, but he likely has other things you might need.
(And the car likely came from him in the first place... Since it was
an Austin movie.)

I got my batteries from the Interstate Battery dealer on Burleson Rd.
that Mark mentioned.  I'm sure he'd be able to give you good
recommendations on something that is cheaper yet will still work.

Car batteries are not "deep cycle" batteries.  i.e. They are meant to
briefly run the starter motor, and then expect continuous recharging.
 You need some sort of deep cycle or marine battery.

The prescience of movie "Idiocracy" is becoming more apparent with
each passing day.  If the car was restored... I bet you could sell it
for a lot, but that would be a long and time consuming task.
