This is so true, ages ago we had so many new innovative transportation
products. Everything has been consolidated, same thing with aircraft
companies, we had dozens of them at the end of WWII. The
transportation industry has shifted from mass innovation to mass
profit. GM bought up electric trolley companies ages ago and replaced
them with Petrol fueled buses. This later changed to influence cities
to abandon their subway system construction plans, if you look at past
LA subway proposals (LA has a rather small subway system today,
especially for such a large city) you will see a lot of auto
manufacture interference. GM even sold their NIMH patent battery
technology to Chevron! of ALL companies! Chevron then created a
daughter company to employ the patents and has produced hardly
anything, from a once viable product that ran the EV1 and the Rav 4
EV. Now, Chrysler is suing them for failing to produce after agreeing
to provide NIMH units for their hybrids. These companies are about
monopolizing the market and nothing else. It's up for others to change
this, these companies aren't built for that kind of innovation.
