Look for the El Ninja book. It has plans from ground up on building an
electric ninja

Subject: [ausev] EV Transportation - Motorcycle vs Car

Hi All,

I have debating the idea in my head about building my first EV and due
to my skill level thinking of starting with a motorcycle OR jeep like
vehicle (something without power steering or A/C - heater comforts).
What are your opinions on motorcycle versus car?

I am not a EE major and other then auto/home sound system wiring,
fixture hangings, and using a voltmeter to check out alternators and
such I don't have much electric skill set. I am at best a shade tr
mechanic with the experience of changing out components (starter,
water pump, in tank fuel pump, alternator, sensors, driveshafts,
lights, fuses, relays, horns, brakes, radiators, etc...), but never
touched a full engine or transmission rebuild.

After searching the web and reading up on a ton of the projects people
have already done out there is there any great resources people
recommend as a "how to"? I see the links on the austinev site and
other sites, (http://www.austinev.org/evinfo/local/index.html,
http://eaaev.org/eaalinks.html, http://www.evadc.org/resources.html,
http://www.21wheels.com/elninja.html) but more looking for personal
recommendations on books that work well or white papers that are
useful.

One other comment from another thread has me wondering if even with a
motorcycle can I make this financially a good decision, not counting
the environmental benefits.

Comment -
"At the moment, there are plenty of good reasons to be interested in
EVs; lower cost of ownership is not currently among them"
..... "But it's not a good bet that you'll come out ahead by enough to
make any meaningful difference."

For motorcycle conversions I see the minimum is around $1200 - $1500
and assuming one day I can resale it to a enthusiasts I am considering
starting the project. Plus this video just makes it look so fun and
simple ;-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rzi4tL3QMWk

Thanks for the information,
Dustin
