At 2300 lbs, a Honda Del Sol should work with an 8" motor. A 9" motor
would allow more tire screeching with less engine heating. :-)
Although as Chris Robison reminded me in his last post, having enough
room in the engine bay for the electric motor can be a concern. We
barely had enough room to put the ADC 9" motor in my 2002 Saturn SL,
and the 2002 Saturn SL is 20.8" longer, 5.1" taller than your Honda
Del Sol.
So I'd try to measure (or get a good estimate of ) how much length you
have from the transmission to whatever frame bits might get in the way
of a motor.
