[ausev] Is there a way to search through prior posts?

John

Very good idea.

But what can you resale each of those for?

I purchased my 02 insight in 2005 with 30k miles for 10k, now 3 years later and 75k miles I can resale it for the same value if not more.

Never take the 2nd hand market for granted.

Dustin

You can do a spreadsheet and figure out the cost of the car, the conversion
and what the payback will be.
I calculated the cost savings using a car with 20 mpg as a base, and
comparing it to a Prius that gets 45, and the as yet un-built Series Hybrid
that should get 80 mpg.

Since I drive 75 miles daily, it would only take $6.00 gas for me to justify
a $22K expense. But I have to admit, since I actually drive a car that now
gets 30 mpg, these figures are skewed. When gas hits $8, watch out.

So, the gamble really is will gas continue to rise? Will it double every
two years? Will it go up "only" a dollar per year? I am certain the price
will never drop. Even 1 million electric cars would not make a dent in the
demand, as China will continue to purchase new cars in the multi-millions
per year.
