[ausev] Old factory motors

You can use an industrial AC motor in an EV, but you really don't want
to. The motors are usually very heavy for their output power, and more
importantly, you'll have a hard time finding a controller to work [and
work efficiently] with one. My one experience driving an EV based on an
industrial motor was a Dodge Dakota converted by Motorola with a custom
controller of their design. It was dangerously underpowered, taking
about 15 seconds to reach 30mph. I never got it above 35 when I test
drove it.

Industrial series-wound DC motors can be a good option though. if you
find one in the dimensions you mention, it might be worth considering.
