That power steering draw is nuts.  Installing the relay to shut it off or going to a manual steering rack would probably get you a noticeable range boost in cold and warm weather.  My Lectra loses a bit of range in colder weather.  The cooling fan for the motor and controller does not come on which makes up for some of the capacity loss.  Also since it is a motorcycle I rarely ride it in really cold weather.  Turning off my headlight is probably a similar drain to your steering in proportion to battery capacity and doing so makes it pull hills better after a few miles.  Storing and charging in a somewhat heated garage also helps a lot.
