[ausev] Cold weather and lead acid batteries

My Chevy S-10E, which originally came with lead acid batteries, has a
kerosene heater and a lot of complicated logic to turn it on and
monitor it, all designed by GM engineers to heat the batteries when
you want to drive the truck and it's too cold outside. They must've
been thinking they were solving some problem if batteries got too cold.

I use this feature to justify my parking in "Hybrids Only" parking
spaces, even though I don't think it ever gets cold enough here in
Los Angeles to turn on the kerosene heater.
