Some of us were talking recently about the fitness, or at least the
appeal of the Mini as a conversion candidate. Saw an item today where
BMW will test a fleet of about 500 Mini BEVs for use by select customers
in California, New York and New Jersey.
The MINI E will have 204 hp, a 150 mile range from 35 kilowatt hour
lithium ion pack running at 380 volts. There will be 5,088 cells grouped
into 48 modules which will occupy what had been the rear passenger
space. Performance is fair at best - acceleration to 62 mph takes 8.5
seconds. I want one anyway.
