Some of us were talking recently about the fitness, or at least the 
appeal of the Mini as a conversion candidate. Saw an item today where 
BMW will test a fleet of about 500 Mini BEVs for use by select customers 
in California, New York and New Jersey.
The MINI E will have 204 hp, a 150 mile range from 35 kilowatt hour 
lithium ion pack running at 380 volts. There will be 5,088 cells grouped 
into 48 modules which will occupy what had been the rear passenger 
space. Performance is fair at best - acceleration to 62 mph takes 8.5 
seconds. I want one anyway.
