Hi- I'm new to the group. I just bought (at a UT auction) a Taylor Dunn
electric van:

Not sure if this is even possible, but has anyone had a successful
conversion of something like this to a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle
(NEV)? It has a 48V system, and runs well, and seems to have good
batteries. It has lights and signals and so forth, and I think that the
top speed allows it into the NEV category (20mph, I think- gotta test it
out!).
My goal would be to have a NEV that had enough range to get me back and
forth from work on a charge (about a 5mi round trip), plus some weekend
errands (back and forth from the HEB, garage sales, etc). I see golf
carts driving around my neighborhood all the time (Balcones Village)- I
don't know if that is just a 'flexing' of the rules. I may just throw an
old set of clubs in the back (I only play putt-putt) and call it a 'golf
cart' in the meantime.
Regards,
Matt Bennett
