Hi Brooks,
I recognized you e-mail from the robot group. I lurk there as well as here.
You may be interested, assuming you don't know already, in a thing called Smart Grid. Smart Grid seeks to manage diverse energy sources and needs.
Welcome to the list!

EV group email test.............
My name is Brooks Coleman, I am one of the founding members of The Robot Group Inc. in Austin. I was also a line mechanic for Jet Industries, ElectroVan Inc. many years ago doing EV conversions of Fuji mini vans, Dodge Omnis , Dodge Ram pickups and Ford Curriers.
I have a Toyota extra cab pickup that I may be converting by ganging together several electric golf cart motors. I live in Kingsland, Texas where I have a growing collection of electric golf carts due to the abundant supply (cheap or free) of them out here.
I have a small machine shop where I am also working on several wind energy projects and contribute to the Airborne Wind Energy group online.
I am mostly looking for advice and collaboration on different types of energy storage with a focus on batteries and charging systems. I am designing a mechanical device that takes in energy from many different sources such as a variety of different wind mills, turbines and oscillating kites as well as several steam powered devices and routes the energy to a variety of different storage systems such as batteries, compressed air, pumped water, heated water/oil and maybe even hydrogen.
I will be posting my progress reports as they become presentable at DogJobLabs.com , currently part of TheRobotGroup.org/wiki . I look forward to callaborating with you. Thanks.
-brooks
