[ausev] A pair of EV stories

Hi all,

Back in December I got interviewed by a local paper about my EV, and the
article ended up on the front page!

The other story started about 10 years ago. The parts from my car were
purchased from a Chris who used to live near Buda. He had used the
Electroauto kit somewhere around '99 to convert his convertible Rabbit to
electric. After 7 or so years of use commuting almost 40 miles a day the car
body had reached it's end and I purchased the parts and am still using all
the same parts except for a bigger charger. While the reporter was with me
in the driveway (while I was frantically trying to replace a recently melted
battery) my neighbor's boyfriend comes over and tells me he saw an electric
car just like mine in Austin ages ago, except it was white. I don't know of
any other Electroauto VWs in Austin so more than likely he was looking at
the same parts, more than a 1000 miles away. Electric parts really do last!
