Roy:

I’ve been pondering this question also. I’ve read (in at least one place)
that you should add 1/16” min. to all sides of the battery. That is, 1/8” to
each dimension. I’ve also decided that by using a battery size of 10-3/8”L x
7-1/8 W x 11-5/8”H, I will be able to use any US Battery 6V or 8V battery
OR any Trojan 6V or 8V battery. This will give me flexibility now and in the
future.

I also plan to add another ¼” or so around the pack (wherever possible) for
more flexibility and/or for insulation.

I wish I was ready to start on battery boxes myself.

Subject: [ausev] Battery swelling

 Hey all

Im preparing to weld up a frame to hold the batteries im gonna use.they are
flooded 8volts. my question is about how much extra should i put in the
frame measurements to account for battery swelling over time. im grouping
the batteries 3 in a row lengthwise if that helps.

Thanks

Roy
