I actually did try the voltage trim 2 turns in either direction.
(about +/- 40 volts) It had no effect, but even if the voltage trim
had drifted the emeter should still read some current going into the
batteries. (With the batteries at 150VDC, and the voltage trim
nominally at 180VDC... it would have had to drift pretty far to not
send any current to the pack.)
I may take Aaron up on his offer of a charger, but I think I can fix
my charger quickly without sending it back to Rich. Rich Rudman
seemed faily confident (after hearing my description) that "Your
charger is NOT connected to your battery pack."
While I tested the voltages at the Anderson SB50 connector going into
the charger, Rich said that if I open the cover of the charger, there
is a fuse mounted inside the charger's case. The fuse, and/or the
clips holding the fuse seem to be a point of weakness. He also said
to generally check wiring connections on the DC side inside the
charger, and look for heat damage, loose nuts, and loose bolts.
So... I shall report on my findings soon.
