Well, I kept getting forced to travel up here when I lived in Austin, so I
figured some of you other poor saps might suffer the same misfortune :-)
And then there's the ol' family vacation!
I'm sitting here without my stats sheet, but I know it is an AC
Synchronous motor that they keep referring to as "130 horsepower" (where I
don't know if they're talking electric motor rating, or some kind of
gasoline engine bhp "equivalent") that is run at "260 horsepower" briefly,
when both the stack and the battery are providing juice. So far, I have
only had the motor power gauge up to 90 kW, but there is more to be had.

Danny,
Quit teasing us with an offer to drive if were in town! Although Ive
never been a fan of fuel cells, I know the drive system is the sweet part,
no matter where it gets its electricity from.
Do you know what is under the hood? 100kW AC induction?

So, I've been driving the Fuel Cell powered Equinox ([LINK:
http://www.chevrolet.com/pages/open/default/fuel/cell.do]
http://www.chevrolet.com/pages/open/default/fuel/cell.do) for a little
while now and I can tell you it is one sweet ride. I'll have it until
about August 19th, so if anyone has travel plans to the Nation's Capital
area before then, send me a message! I sure miss the old gang at times
like this, I know y'all would love this truck.

Hey, great article Marc - thanks for sending that out.
Speaking of GM EVs, next week I am picking up my hydrogen car.
Relax, everyone - they aren't for sale yet. I'm participating in GM's
Project Driveway ([LINK: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=84395005960]
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=84395005960). I'll be driving a Fuel
Cell powered Chevy Equinox and providing feedback about the experience.
If anyone is planning on being in the DC area in the next 11 weeks, please
let me know. We'll find a time to let you put the pedal to the metal
(well, the H2 to the platinum) and get blogged about in the GM discussion
forum.
