Lithium doesn't occur naturally in elemental form, due to its high reactivity.

of nasty (as is mining of many metal ores).  I'm not saying that we should avoid
it, but there are some considerations.  I'd be interested in more info on
lithium recycling - what portion can normally be reclaimed from batteries, etc.
