Lithium appears in water -in trace amounts- that means microscopic amounts. When any element gets concentrated is when it gets dangerous. Salt is good for you until you try to drink ocean water.
Lithium is also used to "balance" the brain chemistry of people suffering from Bipolar Disorder; archaicly known as "manic-depression". Of course, that's also in trace amounts. Even LSD can be used to treat certain mental disorders - in trace amounts.
