I talked
to KTA about your hlll/high lock problem. They claim to have solved
this problem by installing a small relay parallel to the large contactor.
The relay operates much faster than the contactor and supplies the
controller with input fast enough to prevent the problem you describe... makes
sense to me.

Do you know of anyone else with a similar experience?
>> No, I think
I am the only one in the group with the curtis controller.

I have a Curtis 144 VDC system too and it's been
working fine for me. I have 2 fans and the controller seems to manage the
summer heat. I can pull >400 amps when needed (my ammeter tops out at
400). I'd like to have more instrumentation from it and the low speed
stall whine is a little distracting at times.

My chief complaint has
been caused by a combination of pedal safety (- contactor opens when foot is off
the accelerator) and the high pedal lock. I can press the accelerator
faster than the contactor closes and that means the controller thinks that I've
got a high pedal and won't start. It's a pain, but a good safety feature
that's only an issue starting on hills (not many around here ;). I added
an override button and that is working so far.

Rob
