<DIV class="ArwC7c ckChnd" id=1fnx>After going by and taking a look at the
Ford Rangers on display this weekend, I'm beginning to wonder where all that
electronic stuff is going to go.</DIV><BR>[Marty says:]<BR>Why not set it up
as a conventional Ranger EV, (electronics under the hood), and then put the
generator rig on a slide-out sled in the bed? I've read through EPC's white
paper on the range-extending trailer, which makes a lot of sense. Taking the
motor-generator rig off of the trailer and into a pickup bed would seem to
make even MORE sense if one was using straight EV mode most of the time, and
long-range mode fairly seldom. <BR><BR>[John Perry said:]<BR clear=all>I have
run across many stories of people who have created "home made" series hybrids
-- such as the one about using a turbine engine to power a Hummer, and getting
60 to 80 mpg. <BR><BR>[Marty:] Can anyone point to one of these turbine
conversions? I'd have to think that the turbine would be absurdly loud. How
did they handle that? (Aside from being the only vehicle for 10 miles
around?)<BR><BR>Best,<BR>- Marty<BR><BR>-- <BR>"The pursuit of truth and
